I will be going next week with my school so I won’t have all day free to roam around, but I will sure have some free time. In that free time, I want to see anything car related or even meet someone from Oppo. Im going from Monday to Friday, any recommendations?

Here , of course. There's also a Ferrari Store but I've never been there.

There's a Ferrari/Maserati dealership on Park Ave. in the 50s.

Don't go to the Ferrari store.

Classic car club has popped up on jalopnik/oppo quite a bit, and some oppos have or still work there.

Come to Classic Car Club...
and if you want, I could show you around. But it might be an out of body experience.

What's wrong with it?

I now want to go to the Ferrari store.

I will of course go, thanks for the suggestions.

My grandmother had 2 and my grandfather had another. I know my panthers pretty well.

If I have an opportunity, I will surely attend.

Will try my best to go there. Seems like the go to place.

Visit CCC.
Actually, it's worth it to take a ride in an NYC taxi, if your school group isn't going to already. It's a unique, terrifying experience.
And keep your camera out. You never know what gems you may spot.
![]() 04/16/2015 at 22:21 |
|
Thats currently my #1 place on the list.
How much out of body are you talking about here?
![]() 04/16/2015 at 22:21 |

Where are you coming from? Also, too bad you just missed the car show. Well, if you like going to those.
![]() 04/16/2015 at 22:22 |
|
Will do!
I hope they let us go not only on buses.
Camera will always be out, the reason I got it last week was to have it for the trip.

if you're looking for an out-of-the-way spot, or if you're looking for an excuse to go eat some good food in Queens, check out Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria. Lots of dilapidated old classics for sale in a big warehouse.

There might still be a Frank Lloyd Wright designed part of a Mercedes showroom close to the Ferrari dealership. They may have illegally torn it out, but it looks/looked like this. Oh wait, I checked ... it's gone .

Probably enough to make it an unforgettable day, to say the least.

If you want to see exotics they're much more welcoming at Manhattan Motor Cars. Manhattan's Porsche, Lambo, Rolls, Bugatti etc dealer.

I went three years ago or something, before I started working at CCC, and they like tailed me around the store and made it very awkward. Couldn't enjoy the cars at all and was basically forced to buy something. It was an uncomfortable experience.

I hope there is enough free time to go "out-of-the-way" but the place is certainly noted in my internal "To Do" List.

Damn it, that must have been so cool to see.
![]() 04/16/2015 at 22:53 |

I'm now scared.
Still want to go.

You know, I have never seen a Bugatti in person and being one of the (very) few people who appreciate them it would be great to go.

Last time I checked they had an F40, a Veyron, and a 918 in their showroom.
Also, I recommend going to the Classic Car Club, I work there, but probably won't be there when you would be stopping by. There's tons of cool stuff. Not sure how familiar you are with it.
![]() 04/16/2015 at 23:01 |

I have gone to its page several times but I'm not that familiar with it. For sure I'd like to visit.

Yeah - when I was here on business (lived in DC then) in 1999 I made a pilgrimage to see it. The Wright-designed desks were especially lovely.

I hope I can do Tuesday then!

Let me know
![]() 04/16/2015 at 23:40 |

It didn't, but lots of stuff in NYC goes away because they don't landmark is fast enough. Penn Station, the old loft space my favorite restaurant called Ernie's occupied ... now it's a Duane Reade. My favorite bagel place is now a Verizon Store. Rents go up, things change. They yelled about how Yankee Stadium was a temple to baseball, then they pulled it down to build a parking lot. I hate the Yankees, but still ....
![]() 04/16/2015 at 23:59 |
|
Absolutely!
![]() 04/16/2015 at 23:59 |
|
Yeah, I realize. But that's progress, I guess.
![]() 04/17/2015 at 00:07 |
|
When they replace a thriving restaurant (and the bar next door with bras stapled to the wall) with yuppie condos, it is not progress.
![]() 04/17/2015 at 00:51 |
|
Ouch...
![]() 04/17/2015 at 07:20 |

NYC taxi Panthers are different though! Extended wheelbase, and pretty damn iconic.

Will try to at least get a ride around the block.

Definitely CCC, that’s really all I can recommend auto related as it’s the only thing I’ve done there. Besides going to nice dealerships to ogle inventory. Also, got Madame Tussauds Wax Museum, it’s fantastic!
....
Don’t, don’t go there. It’s stupid and awful.
